QPR2: Beyond Question, Persuade, Refer- Strengthening Skills; Ask the Question- Save Lives

This session is based upon the Question, Persuade Refer (QPR) suicide prevention training structure. Like having a lot of individuals on campus trained in CPR for medical intervention, the ISU community needs many people trained and utilizing QPR for mental health intervention. Together we will role play difficult conversations asking those hurting if they are considering suicide. We will explore boundary setting, self-care suggestions and learn more about ISU resources for mental health.

Objective 1: Students, faculty and staff in attendance will  explore the significance of the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) structure during a didactic presentation and participation in discussion.

Objective 2: Attendees will implement the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) skills through a set of roleplays in dyads.

Objective 3: Attendees will be able to provide wellbeing resource recommendations to fellow cyclones who are hurting.
