Green Dot Overview
The Green Dot Overview is a 60 minutes interactive presentation that introduces the basic elements of Green Dot while using some skill building activities to engage participants in immediate action.
The basic elements of the presentation are to provide a new framework of bystander intervention, generate campus-wide buy-in, and begin the process of behavioral change. This presentation is open to any student group or class on campus.
QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer-QPR) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention:
QPR is designed to teach individuals the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. Once trained, you become a “gatekeeper”. Gatekeepers are anyone (e.g., friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, administrators, family) who are positioned to recognize the crisis warning signs and refer someone at risk of suicide to resources. YOU can help fellow cyclones stay safe- sign up today and be trained as a “gatekeeper”! Across the country, 1,100 college students take their own lives EVERY year. THREE STEPS:
Question the individual’s desire or intent regarding suicide
Persuade the person to seek and accept help
Refer the person to the appropriate resources
